We are strategically located between Dr Wind’s club, Escola Gostoso (5 minutes on foot), and Kauli Seadi’s club ( minutes by car).
São Miguel do Gostoso is a reference point in Brazil and around the world for windsurfing and kitesurfing, offering perfect conditions for both beginners and intermediates. The beach stretches approximately 2-3 km and provides ideal sailing conditions for all levels of difficulty. The best spot on the beach is Ponta de Santo Cristo, directly in front of Dr Wind’s Guarderia and Escola Gostoso. This vast, clean sand beach is free of obstacles like rocks, trees, or volleyball nets, making it a safe and enjoyable location for your experience. Dr Wind’s club offers a rescue service with its own boat for members.
The wind blows consistently throughout the year, but the best months with the most favorable direction are from September to March. The wind is perfect—never too strong—and blows sideshore / side-offshore from the right.
A typical wind day in Gostoso starts at 10:00 AM with light winds ranging from 15 to 20 knots. Around 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, the thermal wind kicks in, increasing in intensity to 20 to 30 knots.
São Miguel do Gostoso is renowned for its strong and consistent winds, making it a popular destination for kitesurfers and wingfoilers. Many of the world’s top wingfoiling athletes come to São Miguel do Gostoso to train and compete due to the ideal conditions offered by the city’s beaches and surrounding areas. The strong winds and varied conditions make it an ideal location for honing skills and pushing the limits of the sport. Additionally, the city’s serene climate and beautiful scenery make it an attractive destination for both athletes and tourists.
Wingfoiling offers greater speed and agility compared to kitesurfing, as the wing is lighter and more maneuverable than a traditional kite. This allows practitioners to achieve higher speeds and execute more precise maneuvers. The use of the wing also provides greater stability and control, making it easier to maintain balance and direction. Wingfoiling requires less space and wind than kitesurfing, making it more accessible in smaller areas and lighter winds, which is ideal for beginners or less favorable weather conditions. Lastly, wingfoiling is considered less dangerous than kitesurfing due to its reduced space and wind requirements, as well as the increased stability and control provided by the wing, making it a safer option for beginners and intermediate practitioners.
Close to the beach, with flat water and waves up to 2 meters near the reef about 300 meters away, those who love freestyle and freeride can also refine their techniques. Depending on the tide, waves may form that are not very large but perfect for radical maneuvers.
The number of sails on the water is rarely high, and there is ample space on the beach to set up and launch your own sail. The wind percentage is very high, around 95% during the peak season, though this percentage drops in the months leading up to the end of the wind season.
In Gostoso, there’s a saying: “If you came for 15 days, you’ll end up sailing for at least 16!”
